Before the petrification occured Gen Asagiri was a popular Mentalist who was featured in many magazines, Tsukasa thought he would be a useful pawn in his army and revived him.

Originally he acted as a spy for Tsukasa and was supposed to see if Senku was still alive in the village, however thanks to the power of science and cola he turned over a new leaf and joined the crew.
